SPECIALTY RWB CH NONSUCH LAC DU LUNE V FAR FIELD, CGC

DOB: 12/10/2005

Description: 30” / 75 lbs. Female, tri, black-masked

Bred by: Karen & Kalen Dumke

Owned/handled by: Veni

CHIC: 56514 (All normal. Full mouth/scissor bite.)

Luna is our super model—gorgeous head on an arched, well set neck; clean legs; an elegant frame with long first and second thighs; short hocks; strong arched loin; broad rear; Her movement is quite nice—cadenced, light, true, and ground covering. Everything “flows” with this bitch including her laid-back, unflappable approach to life.

Luna’s pedigree is classic Nonsuch being line-bred on multi-Specialty Winner’s Dog, Am. Ch. Nonsuch Gigolo and Am. Ch. Falkenar Sunbarr Scandal, ROM-C (a Stonebar Sebastian daughter). Luna also has quality lines to Stillwater, Crescent, and Kishniga. Her tail female line goes to to Nonsuch’s top producing foundation bitch, Am. Ch. Echovesna Monsoon of Nonsuch, ROMX-C. Phenotypically, Luna reminds us of her maternal grandsire BISS Am. Ch. Nonsuch Smooth Operator, an elegant and beautiful moving Borzoi successfully specialed by the Dumkes.

Luna, always owner handled, obtained her conformation title by going Best of Breed over 3 specials (2 in the top 5!) November 2009 under judge Charles Olvis. Six weeks previously she was awarded Best of Winners for a major under breeder-judge Chris Neale. Luna took some time to mature and fill out her elegant frame but once she began, she was always in the ribbons starting with back-to-back Best of Breed wins for her first points at 2 1/2. At 3 she took reserve to 4 points at a BCOA TSE under a breeder judge, and then reserve to 5 points at the Lone Star Borzoi Club’s 2008 Specialty. Her competitiveness in three different regions, amidst top contenders, and under a wide variety of judges is a source of pride.

In September of 2009, Luna and kennel mate Laci performed in a local theatre production (to rave reviews of course! ;). She showed early interest in the lure but after a couple of live “back yard” kills, plastic was a bore. She’s extremely athletic and fluid in the field and a natural in therapy work due to her gentle, sweet demeanor.

Clearly, Luna was an excellent candidate to breed. Very sadly, after several attempts, I could not get a litter from this beautiful bitch. Nonetheless, she remains a treasured member of the family.
