CH Nonsuch Marching Orders

The theme for Rouge’s litter was famous movies. I chose Moulin Rouge for the fact that I live in Baton Rouge and that my puppy was red and very fun. The real Moulin Rouge is a cabaret in Montmartre, Paris and literally means “red windmill.”

CHIC: 67739 (All normal. OFA reg full mouth/scissor bite.)

Rouge was the last and most significant Borzoi acquired from the Dumke’s Nonsuch Kennel. True to her bloodlines, she is extremely typey with the long, low, floating side gait I treasure. She is structurally sound fore/aft and as agile as a cat. Rouge is blessed
with breed details such as high set ears, big dark eyes, dark pigment, and roman finish. Her neck is well set on sloping shoulders with a strong, broad, arched loin that flows into a well angulated rear, and finished with a very long tail. I fault her lack of fore chest but it did not hinder her flawless movement. She was a thing of beauty in the field and an exceptionally devoted, intelligent, and good natured pack member. This may account for the hundreds of photos I captured of her.

This pretty girl came from some high achievers and is bred on Starborough, Stillwater, Echovesna, and Crescent lines. She goes back several times to BISS Eng/Am/Can Ch. Stonebar Sebastian. There was good depth of quality and consistency in Rouge’s litter with 4 conformation titled (3 specialty winners and 2 grand champions) from a litter of 6. Rouge was the only littermate that bred on.

My red head took a back seat to kennel mate Luna, but when her time came, she did everything I asked. She finished by going Best of Breed over specialty winning competition some 7 months after whelping her only litter. Rouge held together so well that I brought her back out as a veteran. She was BOS in Veteran Sweeps at the PBSC Specialty, Best in Veteran Sweeps over the number one Borzoi at the LSBC Specialty, and Best in Veteran Sweeps at a BCOA supported show over national, top-ranking dogs.

As a brood bitch, Rouge truly excelled producing 7 beautiful, structurally sound, outgoing pups. To date, 2 kids have specialty wins; 1 is a nationally ranked, multi-titled agility competitor; 1 is a Specialty Best in Sweeps, Specialty RWD, National Open class winner, OFC pointed, and has an internet following ;>); 1 is a BCOA National Sweeps placer, TSE WD, multi-coursing titled, and sire of conformation/performance pointed offspring;
2 have companion duties; and all are happy and loved by their humans.

Rouge led a healthy, vibrant life all of her 11 years. How grateful I am to have had this special
girl in my life.
