I have admired many of the Meyta dogs over the years so was delighted to acquire this lovely sable girl. Thank you to Laura Hyatt for the opportunity.

Souci has a very elegant head piece with tiny high set ears, big dark eyes, roman finish, and loads of pigment. Her neck is well set on sloping shoulders. She is very square with a strong, broad, arched loin that flows into a well angulated rear, and finished with a very long (wagging) tail. She is agile and athletic in the field and clean and efficient in the ring. Her coat is exceptionally nice. Souci is confident, outgoing, smart, and most companionable.

This sabled girl comes from some high achievers and is line-bred on MBISS Am/Can Ch. Meyta’s Dostoyevski (Dutch, Sirhan, Loral) with top Seabury and Silkenswift lines. Her sire “Gaza” is a commanding dog whose handsome looks, substance, and huge ground covering gait garnered him reserve winner’s dog at the 2009 BCOA National (where I first spied him). Gaza’s full sister DC Annwn Edessa, LCM is a producer of multiple conformation and performance champions. I had the pleasure of watching Souci’s dam “Scarlet” take winners at a specialty and admired her long, floating movement, and style. She’s by multi-specialty winning “Redmond” who had caught my eye at the BCOA Bicentennial. So it’s a bit serendipitous that Souci found her way to Far Field.

Souci finished her conformation title easily earning both majors at specialtiesPotomac Valley Borzoi Club under breeder/judge Karen Dumke and Lone Star Borzoi Club under judge Joan Goldstein. She earned her Grand Championship December of 2017 in 7 shows, including 5 major wins.

The party girl is extremely keen on anything that moves and joyfully acquired her JC (Junior Courser). After getting bumped in the field she fell back and lost interest in plastic. She remains very prey-driven and game-oriented so hopefully we’ll find the time for other activities.

Bred to handsome Beau, Souci whelped a beautiful litter of 7 pups. Details on the Louisiana Wild Litter page. I kept a daughter Kiss, who is Specialty WB, coursing titled, 2 coursing titles and a BCOA TSE Best in Sweeps. Daughter Eva has 3 running titles, is major pointed, and won the BCOA 2017 Futurity class. Sons River and Cypress are also conformation pointed.

Souci has been just a wonderful Borzoi in every way and is enjoying retirement.

People in south Louisiana are known for enjoying life. We say he or she is “sans souci,” without care. One of the nicknames for New Orleans is “the city that care forgot.” This expression absolutely defines Souci—the most joyous, game-oriented, party girl of a Borzoi.
